It’s Not D1 or Bust—There’s More Money Outside Division One
Most scholarships aren’t at the D1 level. With the right strategy, your athlete can earn serious money to play in college—even without being a superstar.
It doesn’t have to be D1 or Bust!
It's pretty surprising that there's more scholarship money outside of the Division One level than in the Division One level. You wouldn’t think that wouldn't be the case, there's about 70,000 scholarships at the D1 level, but there's approximately 102,000 scholarships outside of D1.
I think it's common for a lot of parents to anticipate that their kid won't get a scholarship of some kind, and don't get me wrong less than 2% of athletes get scholarships to play in college, but the reality is that your kid doesn't need to be a phenom in order to get money.
Some of the biggest scholarships that families receive are outside of D1, they've been D2 and NAIA and we're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars. And the numbers get really outrageous when you start combining athletic and academic money.
By no means is it easy to get a scholarship but it's just true that your kid doesn't need to be a Division 1 caliber player to get money to play in college.
